2014 brought us big hits like Big Hero 6 and How to Train Your Dragon 2. 2015 has been big for movies. And animation studios are only going to make the coming years bigger for us. With movies like Toy Story 4 and How to Train Your Dragon 3 already in line for release in 2017 and 2018, the years 2015 and 2016 offer no less entertainment. From Pixar’s return to some delayed projects, here’s Crizic’s list of 12 upcoming animated movies we can’t wait for.

1. Minions

Release date – 10 July, 2015

Despicable Me was great. The sequel was a bit disappointing compared to the first one. But the minions were there in both to entertain us. The prequel or more of a spin-off centering the sidekicks from the two Despicable Me movies is set for release on July 10 this year.

2. The Little Prince

The Little Prince is adapted from the popular French novel of the same name. It will be released in France on July 29, 2015 and later this year in other countries as well.

3. Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’

 Release date – 4 August, 2015

Following the Battle of Gods, another canon movie for the DBZ universe (good news for DBZ fans all year long). Many of you must have already seen it as it was released in Japan two months ago but still many fans wait impatiently for the English dub. A limited release is scheduled in some countries later this year.

4. Hotel Transylvania 2

Release date – 25 September, 2015

Sequel to the 2012 hit and Sony Pictures Animation’s one of the most succesful project, and with Genndy Tartakovsky returning as the director of Hotel Transylvania 2, the movie is set for release in September.

6. The Good Dinosaur

Clearly Pixar has not lost its ambition. We already got Inside Out and now with a second Pixar movie coming out this year (which is quite unusual for the animation studio) it seems that the two-year gap was worth the wait.

A third installment of the famous DreamWorks animation series, Kung Fu Panda 3 is planned for release on January 29, 2016.

10. Finding Dory

no11 findingdoryRelease date – 17 June, 2016

The sequel to Finding Nemo is scheduled to be released in 2016. The main characters from the first movie will also appear in Finding Dory.

11. B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherwordly Operations

no12 boo Release date – TBA

A super secret agency dedicated to protect humans from evil hauntings sounds silly. But that is the premise of B.O.O. and with big names like Seth Rogen, Bill Murray and Mellisa McCarthy attached to the movie, B.O.O. is much awaited by all those who have heard of it. The plot seems damn interesting for a comedy animation entertainment. With an initial release date of June 5, 2015, the movie’s current status is “in development” and we only hope that it gets a confirm release date soon.
