[dropcap size=small]J[/dropcap]im Carrey is best known for his comedy movies and he has been great at it. Underrated considering his talents, throughout his career Jim Carrey has given some brilliant dramatic and serious performances. Here’s Crizic’s list of five such Jim Carrey movies:

5. The Number 23:

the number 23

Haunted by the 23 enigma, Walter Saprrow(Jim Carrey) becomes obsessed with the number 23 when he finds his real life mirrors to the events of a book, The Number 23. Freaky? Right?
Despite all the harsh critical reviews the movie does have some interesting elements and Jim Carrey in his attempt at a suspense thriller gives a strong performance.

4. The Majestic:

the majestic

Suffering from amnesia is a young Hollywood screenwriter accused of being a communist who is mistaken by a small town’s people to be a long dead World War ll hero. The movie’s plot though predictable but still a nice watch, The Majestic has elements similar to Frank Capra movies. And as for Jim Carrey, he is damn serious. No slapstick comedy or outrageous facial expressions, he is amazing in the lead.

3. Man On The Moon:

Man On The Moon stays literally true to the title of this post, Jim not being Jim Carrey, but Andy Kaufman. The movie is a great biopic, a tribute to the once less understood comedian Andy Kaufman and if you look at the cast there are some great actors, there is Danny DeVito and Paul Giamatti, but the one man who stole the show and gave the most memorable performance of his career is Jim Carrey.
He literally got so immersed into the role that during production he insisted on being called Andy and not Jim. Jim Carrey fan or not, you got to acknowledge Jim Carrey’s greatness as an actor.

2. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind:

Not a fan of romantic movies? That’s okay, but you can’t miss watching this movie. Michel Gondry’s idea of a sci-fi romantic movie gave us Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, one of the best romantic movie of all time(Also check Crizic’s list of 8 Best Romantic Movies in Hollywood) and some unforgettable performances by Jim Carrey as Joel Barish and Kate Winslet as Clementine.

This movie simply can’t be erased from your memory.

1. The Truman Show:

“Good morning, and in case I don’t see ya, Good afternoon, good evening, and good night!”. That’s how the movie starts and that’s how the movie ends (not exactly a spoiler).
Unaware that he is the star of a reality TV show, Truman Burbank(Jim Carrey) starts observing some strange things about the world he’s living in. The Truman Show is undoubtedly the BEST JIM CARREY MOVIE EVER.
