[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap] funny, good looking, badass movie star is what Dwayne Johnson is. Even though his movies are most of the times received with mixed reviews, his larger than life attitude always makes them entertaining. Celebrating the success of Dwayne Johnson’s second big flick this year, San Andreas, here’s Crizic’s list of 6 Dwayne Johnson movies you must watch:
6. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island:
Journey 2 is not supposed to be taken seriously at all. Its light theme and The Rock’s likeability put to its best use, plus a nice effort by the supposrting cast of Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Luis Guzman makes the movie fun to watch. A sequel based on another of Jules Verne’s novel, From the Earth to the Moon is set to for release in 2016.
In Faster, we see a more darker side of the usually charming movie star. The revenge flick stars The Rock in an action packed role as Driver, who thrashes anyone who crossed him, and the only thing that matters to him is to avenge his brother’s death.
No better choice than The Rock to play Hercules. Hercules by far must have been Dwayne Johnson’s most demanding role and he nailed it. Brett Ratner’s Hercules actually came out as a pleasant surprise onscreen delivering exactly what was expected (especially when you cast the most near counterpart of the mythical hero you could have).
3. Fast 5:
The Rock revitalized the Fast and Furious franchise bringing with him a combination of comedy and action and established himself as a key part of the movie and franchise’s further installments. Fast 5’s box office success was something no one imagined, be it making money or receiving critical acclaim.
2. Gridiron Gang:
Dwayne Johnson gave a praise worthy and refined performance in Gridiron Gang, a movie which had a very familiar premise, of a role model leading underdogs to glory. The role asked from Dwayne Johnson something which we are not used to see from him and he did great.
1. The Rundown:
The Rundown or Welcome to the Jungle, whatever you want to call it, is probably one of the most amazing film of The Rock’s career because we see him in the kind of role he exactly fits into. The Rundown had it all, the fun, the action and the charisma and energy The Rock brings with himself. Even though the movie is solidly entertaining, funny, critically acclaimed and starred Dwayne Johnson, yet it somehow failed at the box office.
