[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Fifth Season is just a day away and by now through the course of four seasons we know that no one is safe in this world George R. R. Martin has created, even after knowing that much some deaths came so unexpectedly that every one of us was left speechless and immobile in horror. Crizic lists 6 of those most shocking deaths in Game Of Thrones so far:
6. Viserys Targaryen:
Khal Drogo finally gave Viserys what he so much longed for, his crown, a crown of molten gold which finally killed him.
5. Oberyn Martell:
The skull-crushing, eye gouging brutal death of The Red Viper of Dorne still gives us nightmares. Agreed it was inevitable, but it came too soon. The Mountain was too much for him.
4. Shae and Tywin Lannister:
Tyrion finally gets his revenge on his father and his former lover when he gets the chance while escaping King’s Landing serving his father (a character we loved to hate) an undignified death which was totally called for since dignity was something Tyrion had always been denied of by his father.
3. The Purple Wedding (Joffrey Baratheon):
By the time the second episode of the fourth season we had come to a realisation that weddings are something to be best kept away from when in Westeros. While Joffrey was the most loathful and hated character of the entire series, he died a horrific death, by the poison he was served at his own wedding.
2. The Red Wedding (Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, and Talisa Stark):
We still get the chills when The Rains of Castamere plays in the background. The Red Wedding was the most shocking moment of the entire series. Though by the end of the third season we were aware that anybody can get killed, even our favourite characters are not safe but Robb, Catelyn Stark, and Talisa Stark(and her unborn child) and so many others dying at the same time and the Northern Rebellion ending just like that, our minds were literally blown, we couldn’t digest for a long time what we had just witnessed. The episode had to be watched several times to finally believe what had happened.
1. Ned Stark:
Eddard Stark was supposedly the ‘hero’ or protganist of the show. And until he was beheaded we still thought that Ned Stark is going to somehow escape, But NO! They actually killed him. Ned Stark’s execution was the most unexpected but pivotal for the sensation Game Of Thrones is today.
Well, the series isn’t finished yet, rather it keeps getting better and better with every season and by that record season 5 is going to be the best ever. We may know more about Varys intentions and what more help if any he has to offer to Tyrion. Arya Stark is off to Braavos (maybe we can see more of Jaqen H’ghar). So brace yourselves, for the fifth season is coming.
