[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]hey say that one shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. But that’s not entirely true for pilot episodes of TV shows. Some pilot episodes are so awesome, that they are remembered more than the show itself. Crizic brings you 8 best pilot episodes from TV shows:

8. The Walking Dead:

The very first scene with the little girl walker in the gas station is absolute genius. Not only is it gripping, suspenseful and overall depressing, but it sets the tone for the entire show. It told us that in post apocalypse with zombies around, there is no hope, there is no cure, and there never will be. The whole world has gone to shit and the only thing to do now is survive. Nothing else matters. The virus doesn’t care if you’re black, white, adult, child, Jew or Christian, it’ll claim you if you don’t fight for your life. Really amazing stuff.

7. Firefly:

That whole Train Heist story did such an amazing job explaining who the characters were and what their world was about.

6. Sherlock:

Was it merely a pilot? Nope. In fact, each episode of this show is a freaking movie.

5. House of Cards:

‘There are two kinds of pain. The sort of pain that makes you strong and useless pain, the sort of pain that’s only suffering. I have no patience for useless things.’

4. Prison Break:

The first episode of Prison Break made it look like an extraordinary show with some great screenplay thrown in. Shame that it couldn’t keep up.

3. Futurama:

Plot points that don’t get fully addressed until season five? Hell yeah!

2. Chappelle’s Show:

The black white supremacist is one of the ballsiest sketches you will ever see in a show and to do it in the very first episode was INSANE.

1. Lost:

Lost could have been the greatest thing ever on television, and the pilot episode proved just that. Let’s just not talk about the ending for now, and agree that Lost’s pilot episode is, hands down, the greatest pilot episode ever.
